The 39th Vancouver International Jazz Festival, organized by Coastal Jazz, featured an lineup of more than 150 performances in Downtown Vancouver and on Granville Island, along with free shows, talks, workshops and late-night DJ sets.
The festival was brought to life by developing a brand language with the versatility to cover Vancouver’s city streets and extend into print and digital media. In collaboration with artist, Rory Doyle, Massif designed a vibrant and sophisticated set of characters that celebrated the dynamic nature of the jazz genre.
The festival branding was implemented across multiple platforms, including event posters, rack cards, transit shelter ads, print and digital ads, and banners on Burrard Bridge. It also featured prominently on festival signage, such as triptychs across Granville Island and downtown, as well as an info booth and Ocean Artworks event gate. A range of custom merch like shirts, totes, and stickers were available for the public to commemorate this year’s festival.
